Early Childhood Screening
General Information
The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid
learning and growth.
Early Childhood Screening is offered by the school district, free of charge, and takes about an
hour to complete. Screening is offered in August, Fall, and Spring.
What is screening?
Early Childhood Screening is a simple screening of your child's:

language
-
motor
-
cognition skills
-
height, weight, vision, and hearing
Who should be screened?

Recommended that children are screened at the age 3.5 years

Early Childhood Education
YOU are your child's first and most important teacher and we want to partner with you throughout your
child's first five years as you prepare them for school success.
Join an ECFE class! These classes will support you as a parent, offer parenting tools and a chance to network with other parents. ECFE helps build healthy families and sets the stage for parent involvement and children’s success in
Kindergarten to Grade 12 education. Classes are offered Monday evening and Friday morning throughout the school year and new sessions start in October and February. Classes also offered throughout summer.
PreSchool
Swanville Preschool is a fee based 4-Star Parent Aware school readiness program that provides quality learning play-based learning experiences for children ages 3-5. Preschool programs help prepare children to be successful as they enter Kindergarten in the following year. Preschool will help your child learn important skills, such as interacting with peers, following directions, motor skills, language skills, and nurtures a love for lifelong learning. Preschool programs are open to children 3 years old by Sept. 1st Classes are half-days for 3 Yr Olds. 4 and 5 Yr Olds have the option of 2x per week or 4x per week.
