Swanville School District #486 is located in Morrison County, with part of the district in Todd County, 15 miles west of Little Falls, 12 miles east of Long Prairie, and 25 miles north of Albany. We operate a single PK-12 School with a full range of services from preschool to 12th grade, including many extra-curricular activities. High School students are also able to take classes from colleges through interactive television or online.

Position Opening: 7–12 Social Studies Teacher
School Year: 2026–2027

Swanville Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 7–12 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Swanville is a small, supportive school community that values strong relationships, engaging instruction, and a commitment to student success.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in secondary social studies courses for grades 7 through 12, helping students develop critical thinking skills and an understanding of history, government, economics, and geography. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with students and staff in a collaborative, student-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in secondary social studies courses

  • Foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and historical understanding

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and assessments to meet diverse student needs

  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support school initiatives and student success

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

  • Participate in professional development and school activities

Qualifications
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Social Studies (grades 7–12) or ability to obtain one

  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • Commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
